Hi! I’m Elaine, a Canadian cartoonist currently residing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and I’ve been drawing comic books since I was 5! I hold a BA in Illustration from The Arts University College at Bournemouth in the UK. You can view my old portfolio by clicking here. (I will have a new one up very soon!)

Look Straight Ahead is a project that’s been rattling around in my head since 2003. I had always wanted to do an epic book-length comic of some sort, but could never seem to get one finished. I noticed that there was a distressingly small number of comics centering around mental illness, and wondered if I should try my hand at drawing one. I had suffered an actual mental breakdown in 2002 and had been devouring every book related to mental illness I could lay my hands on ever since, so I certainly knew my way around the subject. I also felt it was an important story that needed to be told.

After a number of false starts, I finally began working on LSA in earnest in 2009. It was nominated for a Joe Shuster Award in 2011 and is the recipient of a 2012 Xeric Award.

Thanks for reading! :) Please address any questions, comments or criticisms to e2w@e2w-illustration.com !
